Totem pole using coffee containers
Syl: maybe this will help
Hi Syl, hope this helps you out,
Here's one way Syl!
Totem Pole From Recyclables
Hi Syl: You can paint the sides of the cans with plastic paint and then use Gorilla Glue to stick them together. Glue doesn't seem to like to stick to paint :) If you are going to paint the cans the same colour, then glue them together first and then paint the whole thing. Then, paint whatever designs you want on the cans. Here's a site that will make it look like wood :)
Here are some ideas from Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/search/pins/?rs=ac&len=2&q=coffee%20can%20totem%20pole&eq=coffee%20can%20tot&etslf=11330&term_meta=coffee%7Cautocomplete%7C0&term_meta=can%7Cautocomplete%7C0&term_meta=totem%7Cautocomplete%7C0&term_meta=pole%7Cautocomplete%7C0
Hi! If you scroll down through the link I'm attaching you will see a project similar to yours. As I recall, they used a piece of reber, but, I bet any pole would work, as long as you weigh the containers down, maybe with sand or rocks, and glued the containers together, where they join with E6000 glue. The pole or broom handle could be stuck in the ground. They have tons of totem designs on Pinterest to help you make it yours. Good luck and stay safe!
Hi Syl. Several years ago I chaperoned a field trip with my son's fifth grade class. One of our projects was to make totem poles. We used Pringles cans to make ours. I learned that a totem pole tells a story. We used markers, paints, buttons, lace, pieces of felt, and an assortment of other findings. Start with the bottom of your totem (that should be the beginning of your story). Work your way up telling your story as you go. I hope this helps you Syl. Good luck.
Thank you Cindy for responding and actually looking for a project or rather a project I saw on how to talk thought I saved it but I guess not LOL but I do like your idea as well perhaps I can do two or three very interested in this project thank you again you have a wonderful day

Stack them on top of each other
You could wrap them in paper to decorate them.
If this is a school project your not suppose to ask others for help. You brain storm as many ideas as you can and then pick the best and do it. If it doesn't work, continue to the next best idea until you believe it's the best you can do. Failing actually can be very good for you and if you take the easy way out, you won't ever have the wonderful opportunity to fail. I can't count the times someone has come into my house and said, how did you do that? I'm 71 years old, 5 ft 1/2 inches tall and I'm not strong. Use your head.
