Mustard Dresser Makeover
I love upcycling and giving furniture a new life. I enjoy taking something discarded and updating it.
Take this dresser for instance...
I was out thrifting and saw this petite dresser. I could envision how cute it would be by updating the hardware and with a fresh paint job.
I removed the existing dated hardware and ordered cup pulls in black measuring hole to hole to get them to line up exactly.
And I bought this Fusion Mineral Paint in Mustard as I love that color right now. It also has a built in top coat.
And yellow exudes happy.
To prep the piece I cleaned it well with Krud Kutter first. Then I scuff sanded it to give it some tooth and to knock down the shine. This way my paint adheres better.
Prep is my least favorite part but it is the most important.
Finally! The painting could begin.
The paint dries fairly quickly - and it took a few coats.
Once painted I added a stencil to the front drawers and added the new hardware.
It doesn’t even look like the same piece!
Would you pass by on that dated piece? Or could you see the potential?
