Search for inspiration photos and use those as a pattern. Choose the style you want and base your search on that.
There are so many things that would make your house look like a showroom- I would start with finding the design you like and colors you want to work with. There are websites where you can upload photos of a room and it will help you place furniture, decor, etc. also pinterest is an excellent source of info for decorating.
Cleaning and de-cluttering is always a good 1st step.

I have a neighbor whose home always looks like a show house. (Mine doesn’t!) She allows absolutely no clutter and literally dusts and cleans her floors everyday.
I always have fresh flowers in my house, but I buy them at the grocery store and always keep one bloom falling loosely in each container...vase, pitcher, bucket. It's a lovely look and inexpensive, plus no floral fussing.
I would make the first room that people walk into look really nice and clean. Light colors, no extra clutter, etc.
I don't have any plants in my house. First husband was into orchids and bromeliads so I steer clear. And besides that I don't like bringing something filled with dirt inside. Cut flowers are even worse I find it very depressing to put something inside that is dying. Just my opinion.
I find a clean and organized home more inviting. Add the smell of fresh baked cookies and that is a home run in my book.
