Using the top part of a solar light is the easiest. You may need to take them out to recharge during the day.
The top part of a solar light would work. Get one that will fit. Brightness depends on how much sunlight the solar panel gets to charge the batteries. Also the type of glass the lanterns have. Clear will give off more light while frosted and colored glass will give off less.
I often take them apart for crafts and putting in planters. If the solar panel is exposed so you can recharge, they are great for putting light where you want. During a power outage, I used solar lights from my yard instead of candles. Good luck and stay safe!
Hi Terry. You can detach the stake from the solar light and use it alone. The small solar panel needs sunlight to light the light. I think your choice of solar powered light is the best choice for this project. You could also use flameless candles, fairy lights or even Christmas lights, all battery operated.
Hello Terry,
What ever size will fit your lantern best - go for it!
All you need is the top where the sun powered solar panel is, Take it apart and put it in your lantern. The bottom is there as a stage for supporting the solar portion.

Zested Solar Lights
Hello. Will your lanterns allow enough light for the lens recharging? I have used one dollar solar lights on many garden decorative items the proper exposures needed allowed perfect functionality. Mounted in candleholders or epoxy putty will hold them in place.
I think any solar light top would work. I think most are now all LED so no heat concerns.
Hi Terry, you certainly can use the top of solar lights for this, just make sure you seal it properly. Hope this helps you out,
