Halloween Pumpkin Outdoor Decorations
Do you like decorating for Fall and Halloween? Do you like creating easy fall and Halloween decorations? I took a column and pumpkin and made easy Halloween pumpkin outdoor decorations. You can see more of my crazy creations here
Here’s an old column a friend gave me. The first thing I did was power wash it to clean it and remove all of the chipping paint.
It was deteriorating so I knew it would be perfect for fall and Halloween.
I painted the column with Rustoleum black spray paint.
I painted the indented part of the column with Rustoleum silver spray paint.
I found this super cute ceramic pumpkin planter. Mine came from Walmart and it came in white and orange.
Option 1 (and my fail)
I filled the pumpkin planter with water.
I added a solar fountain to the pumpkin. I thought it would be fun to have the spraying water as a stem.
My fail – unfortunately it was not sealed properly so water was running out of the plug in the bottom. I would need to empty this out and seal it with silicone and try again.
Solar Fountain – these solar fountains only tend to run when there is full sun on them. They run a little bit if there is a little cloud cover, but not fully. They don’t run at night. I do like the solar fountains but you need to make sure you’re putting them where you’ll get enough sun.
Option 2 – I added faux flowers in the pumpkin for a beautiful fall display.
You could easily plant a live mum plant in the pumpkin as well.
Another option which I love is to rotate the pumpkin face to the back and you can have it on display the rest of your fall season.
In fact the I think you could put different plants and fake flowers in the pumpkin the rest of the year with the reverse side of the pumpkin.

Really cute, but next time, instead of silicone, try a glob of plumbers putty. I've also used plain old fashioned corks with plumbers putty. Put a piece of duct tape on the underside of the pot, then fill the hole on the inside halfway with plumbers putty and stick a cork in it. Or skip the cork and just use a generous amount of plumbers putty. Both ways will keep it sealed tight.
