How to fix or clean this old yucky chalk and grout?
I tried to clean this grout and chalk that's old and yucky. Nothing works. Should I peel chalk off and put new chalk on? And paint on grout?

Amy, this hot mess has to be cleaned out. Use Krud Kutter caulk remover. also Using a small putty knife, toothbrush, and/or the hook end of a 5-in-1 painter's tool (see picture below), scrape any remaining bits of caulk lose (this step, too, requires a bit of patience). Step 4. Clean the surface using alcohol. Then kill any mold or mildew with a mixture of 1/3 cup bleach to 1 gallon of water.
Let dry completely. Fill your bathtub with water to make it heavy and this will help stop separation of caulk. Use a good Silicone caulk made for tubs.

This should be grout not caulking. If you have tried bleaching and scrubbing and neither works, go the the tile department at Home Depot. They sell grout paint. My shower stall was THREE different colors when I bought my house. Previous owner patched with whatever color was on hand. I painted mine several years ago and it still looks great. I used the cleaner they had there as well that breaks down soap scum and dirt first. From the picture it looks like the tile doesn't even have grout in some places (bottom left) and was not properly spaced when it was put in.
Hi! I would remove the grout (you can use a tool manually or you can use a rotary tool). I found a tutorial for you:

Hi, Amy. If there is caulk over the grout it may be that the dirt has gotten under the caulking and that is why you are having a hard time getting it clean. I would suggest, if you have tried everything to do like you said and regrout the tiles. It will give you a beautiful, clean look. BTW, have you tired a Mr. Clean magic eraser? Those things are amazing.

Hello,
You could use a Dremel drill to cut it out! Then re grout. Second look raises a question Has this grouting been painted, if so, remove paint and start again, with fresh paint if you don't like the look of the grout or use a sharpie to colour it... Best wishes.
Hi Amy
I found at Lowe`s these grout pens made by ENHANCE , miracle grout pens, and they work great, very easy to use, no mess , no odor, Hope this helps
I used Mapei Grout Refresh to paint my stained grout. Just clean the grout then follow the simple directions by "painting it on". No, it does not require a steady hand because the paint easily wipes off the tile but stays on the grout. This product seals the grout too, so no extra sealing required. I painted my grout 2 years ago and it still looks brand new! Good luck!

I used Lysol toilet bowl cleaner in the black squirt bottle on mine. I got amazing results. If it doesn't work, you can always paint the grout and then seal it. I did that recently to change the grout color in my half bath.
We paint ours periodically, every couple of years. We use regular acrylic paint. I get compliments on my super clean grout!
I use a steamer or I use a toothbrush and vinegar with hot water. It's a lot of work, but it works!
HELLO AGAIN,
Around the bath, use a Bath Silicone Sealer once the grout has been removed, or you could use a Bath strip or Bath Strip Tiles to fix this problem. Best wishes.

There are chemicals to do it super easy but in the bathroom I would first remove that line close to tub and re-caulk not grout there
Yes, take the old caulk out and redo it. To clean the grout, use baking soda and peroxide with a scrubber or toothbrush.
Here are several tips and tricks that might help you https://chascrazycreations.com/floor-cleaning-hacks/
You need to remove the caulking and grout inbetween the tiles.
Hi Amy, hope this helps you out. Mix two parts baking soda with one part vinegar. And if you have coarse or fragile tiles, mix two parts baking soda with one part hydrogen peroxide. If desired, you can also use a commercial grout cleaner. Use a grout brush or old toothbrush to apply the paste to the grout lines
Try some vinegar and scrub with an old toothbrush.
Heat up 1 cup of white vinegar, mix in about 1/4 cup of Dawn Premium. Not the dollar store kind, because it is too thin. When mixed, pour into a spray bottle and fill with water. Shake. Spray down the grout and let it sit overnight. In the morning rinse. If you have stubborn stains, spray again. Use this mixture a few times a week. It will keep your grout and tiles clean. Also works wonders in the toilet bowl to keep hard water stains at bay. Oh you only have to heat the vinegar one time when you add the Dawn.
You can also buy a product called Mapei Grout Refresh, It has a sealer in it and comes in many colors. Try Amazon. A little goes a long way.
