Suggestions for staining concrete steps?
The house is white with black trim. We have lots of red mud in the farm. I was thinking I might try staining to look like brick steps. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. TY!

Hello Kathy
You can buy stain for concrete. You could also use a garden fence colour such as Chestnut Brown etc. I found that out by accident, I was painting the fence when I brushed the concrete post and it absorbed the stain. I decided to paint all of the posts to match the fence and all went well. When the fence fades, I will do it all over once again. You can also use a Tile paint. Best wishes.
You can buy concrete stain at the home improvement store. I think you’re on to something with staining them the same color as the dirt around you. Theylllook cleaner longer.
I would definitely stain them to match red brick. There's no point in fighting red mud!
Another option, if you want to get creative, is to use 2 stains. I'd definitely do the mud color on the treads, but you could also do a dark ebony for the riser part. Kick up that style!
Hello. Yes that’s an awesome idea —why fight the stains when you can make it look beautiful and also disquise the foot traffic. Sounds like an excellent project. Maybe consider posting it here.
Kilz is a fabulous cement paint that comes in a variety of colors and is sold at local hardware stores.

Check out Sherwin Williams concrete paint!! It's awesome! You can pick any Sherwin Williams color too to have it mixed. I agree with Jan Clark, I would use 2 different blending paint colors or stains.. Then the mud will really be disguised. Pick your brick color and another. We painted our concrete with Sherwin Williams if you need tips on how to use the paint:

I had my concrete floors stained in my home. You have to stain them with a special concrete stain called acid, https://directcolors.com/acid-stain. Before you stain them you sand them smooth, wait a few weeks to sand if the concrete is only a week old. Bob Villa https://www.bobvila.com/articles/how-to-acid-stain-concrete/
Paint them a rust red and then paint the door to match
Behr has a concrete stain you can purchase.
You could stencil paint them!
If you think it ill compliment your house and trim colors, using a terra cotta colored stain would make your steps look like they are made of terra cotta. That's a great organic look if it fits with your aesthetic.
We've stained and painted a concrete patio. I would say that the paint has held up much better. Here's the info on both. Best of luck! https://www.exquisitelyunremarkable.com/2018/08/how-to-paint-concrete-patio-makeover.html
