Stick vacuum recommendations
I have an 8x10 area rug which is a derp pile shag. My regular vac makes it almost impossible to use even when I adjust the setting to high...too hard to run vac over the carpet. So I’ve been vacuuming using an attachment piece to clean the carpet. Can anyone suggest a lightweight stick vac that can be pushed over the shag rug instead of being sucked up by the vac? The way I’m vacuuming now takes about 30 minutes to clean this 8x10 carpet! Help!

What is your attachement piece? Maybe you can get a wide end attachment piece so it won't be so difficult. I have a 8x10 shag carpet myself and I just push real hard and it's a real pain.
The Bissel Featherweight is a great vaccuum, we used that when we stayed in a furnished rental a few years ago. When I need to get a new one (still have old Electrolux) that Bissel is the one I am getting. Take a look at the reviews for it on Amazon!
Hopefully the photo turns up here, so you know which one I meant, it has over 21K reviews!

Hi! I use an inexpensive Bissell stick broom for my area rugs. You can take it apart and use the hand vac if you need to get in closer. Good luck!
There is no stick vacuum that will work on deep pile rugs or carpet. They are made for flat flooring and low pile rugs. I have a Eureka that got the best reviews on Amazon. Even on a low pile rug it takes several passes for it to pick up everything. It's perfect for flat flooring and stairs. Read the manufacturers descriptions carefully.
Hi, If it were mine, I would roll it up and take it outside. turn it upside down and beat it hard to try to remove all the rubbish locked inside the pile. Hope that helps. If not possible to take out side, I would roll it up and unroll it upside down and beat it. Roll up again. Remove the rubbish from the floor and then re-lay!
Best wishes
I was in the house cleaning business for years and tried and used many vacuums but the best on the market is Shark. I have a Shark stick vac that is awesome -

Try one like Shark that does not have the typical brush roller. The "brush" on some models is a rubber roller more like a paddle that does not tangle in the pile.
I have friends who swear by Shark and Dyson.
