My double pained windows stick so bad I cannot open. ?
I have 15 year old double pained windows and they stick so bad I cannot open a couple of them. I keep my framed very clean so I know that is not an issue. Is there something I can do or do . I feel they are not old enough to replace. They are also a very well known brand with I think a good reputation.

Use some silicone spray on the tracks. If the are vinyl be careful what you use the clean them. You could be making the tracks sticky. Do not use anything with solvents that can compromise the vinyl. Liquid soap and warm water. An all purpose cleaner would be fine.

You may have cleaned them too well. Get some white lithium grease to put in the tracks. Also, WD40 sometimes causes sticking as well. So the white grease would be your best bet to help with the sticking.
I would contact the manufacturer for their recommendation.
I also would first contact the manufacturer since you say they are a well-known comany. It would be in their best interet to provide you with some answers and advice. If you are having problems, likely you're not the only one and they may offer some service to help you.
Hi Karen, I had old windows and I ran a candle over the parts that rubbed or touched , it helped them glide a bit better.
Wax can help. A manufacturing defect could be fixed by the supplier. Often people paint windows and they get sticky. Humidity changes can swell wood and make them stick. A good window company can probably fix them if other options don't work.
I would spray the sashes with WD40. Let it sit for a few minutes then try to open the windows. If they do not open spray again.
Hello I woukd call the manufacturer-my windows have serial number stuckers and a warranty.
Another vote for WD40! That worked for us. :)
I was having the same problem and had to hire a carpenter to open it. I was afraid I would break it.
