Tie Blanket

This fun DIY has always been a classic in my home! My grandma used to make these all the time, and I have such fond memories of going to the store, picking out the cutest, softest fabric, and helping her tie each piece! I wanted to showcase this simple DIY so that you too can create memories in your home this holiday season!

First, you'll need some materials! All you need is two pieces of fabric, cut to whatever size you what your blanket to be, and a pair of scissors.

Next, you'll need to lay out and line up the pieces of fabric. Make sure you have the patterned sides of your fabric facing out!

Next, you'll want to cut off any extras on your fabric. Both of my precut Harry Potter fabrics had this white border on the ends. Leave your pieces of fabric over top of each other and cut through both pieces at the same time.

Then, you'll want to cut out a two inch by two inch square on each corner of your blanket.

Then, once your squares are cut out, you will make two inch long cuts every half an inch. Do this on all four sides.

Then, once each piece is cut, tie the corresponding bottom and top pieces together. I suggest using a double knot!

For your final step, I suggest a cup of hot chocolate, a movie, and a fire in your fireplace! Happy snuggling!

I make these for our soldiers that are deployed.....Some soldiers are really tall...so I have had to adjust the blankets accordingly.

There are a lot of soldiers that DO NOT have family or friends to send them stuff....and they are in some cold environments. I recently learned that the bunks on the ships are not very warm

I've made these for about 5 yrs now for Christmas gifts. The ones who got them LOVE them! I fold them and tie a ribbon around them. I tie a note card to the ribbon that says," I now sleep with the Angels above... For I sleep nowith a blanket handmade with LOVE". People love the blankets and the little note card 💯❤️
