Painting a basement kids room is there better paint that are waterpro?
Painting a wall that had issues with dampness. Drain tiles landscape etc was already done. Planning to bleach the wall first but is there a better waterproof paint. Also two walls are more of a covered over concrete brick. Other walls are plastered.

Hello, here's a a video offering information about your concrete brick wall. Also,, there are good stainblocking primers on the market such as Bin 1-2-3 by Zinsser (depending on where you reside). Before investing in painting you want to be sure that the outside wall is free of future moisture problems.

It sounds like you've addressed the moisture problem, so here's a link on painting your walls:

Hi, there are paints specifically designed for moist areas (such as bathrooms). If you go to your local home depot or home improvement store, they will be able to show you the ones that are meant to block mold and moisture.
I would put a couple coats of primer sealer prior to painting. But first I would put a de humidifier in the room to get all the moisture out. If too damp i would be worried about mould....
Big problem with mold where we live, high humidity and moist walls. We painted with primer sealer from Home Depot and then applied paint, this was on the inside of a closet.
Using a dehumidifier and bags of chemical to trap excessive moisture in the closet and other rooms.
UGL and Sunny Dry both work. Sunny Dry is a dry paint you mix with water. CAUTION: mix small batches, like the size of a peanut butter jar at a time as it sets quickly. UGL needs big time ventilation to clear as it has a very strong smell til it dries thoroughly.
I agree about getting a dehumidifier - that can solve the humidity problem! We have a finished basement and have to keep ours running 24/7. My husband created a drain pipe outside for it so we never have to empty it.
I would use DryLock first. It will seal the wall. Also I agree about ventilation and a dehumidifier. Go to Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore and ask them about which paints would be good for brick in a basement.
Hello YEHUDIT, hope this helps you out, it should work for the plaster wall too,

I believe I saw a new Zinseer waterproofing primer at True Value the other day. But Drylok is a good one too.
This is a good damp basements https://www.lowes.com/pd/DRYLOK-White-Flat-Mildew-Resistant-Waterproofer-Gallon/3073099?cm_mmc=shp-_-c-_-prd-_-pnt-_-google-_-lia-_-220-_-specialtypaint-_-3073099-_-0&store_code=1521&placeholder=null&ds_rl=1286981&gclid=Cj0KCQiA5vb-BRCRARIsAJBKc6JXoMayI3Q8obQIul4RugeuK_Pq3Z258eq941ia5XGhvFXs4xt2Ye8aAiZ2EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
Hi Yehudit. I would start with a couple coats of Dry Lock. Be sure to let it dry in between coats. Then paint with a paint made to tolerate moisture. I would go to a paint store for their expert advice. Good luck Yehudit. Happy Holidays.
Agree with above proper sealer after prep would be beneficial for proper coating and best long lasting results. Your local paint department are sure to have great products and suggestions to suit your needs.
We use a damp seal paint for a similar issue in the past.
you could clean the wall with TSP then let it dry and use a product like kilz to cover the stain then paint
they also make waterproofing paint to use be sure the water problem has stopped before doing all the work

I would advise to wipe everything down with white cleaning vinegar to kill any mold spores you may have. You can put a barrier material up but then you would want to cover it because it's a rubbery like substance. You can get a paintable water barrier to put on the walls but it is a dark color. Although you can make that work with decor, like my daughter's room is a deep navy with bright trim decorated in a celestial theme.
We used this paint (suggested by our local Sherwin-Williams) and love the results. https://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/products/paint-shield-microbicidal-interior-latex-paint
If that wall still has dampness issues, I would deal with that first before moving ahead.
Hi! We've used Drylok paint and it works great! Good luck and stay safe!

You might consider putting a dehumidifier in the area as well. I was shocked at the amount of water it pulled in my mil’s house.
We have painted concrete with Benjamin Moore Floor and Wall and it works fabulous. Comes in great colors, too.
