Hello. Thats likely a common problem. We disguised our discoloration from hair products and skin oils using a throw blanket.

Curious to the replies here to see if there's a solution to completely clean our Natuzzi discolorations. We used a Dawn solution and a washcloth and that helped some.

Although I have never done this myself, here's what one person did:

I would do this in an inconspicuous spot and then proceed if it appears to be working. Finally cover with a doily or a pretty towel to prevent this from happening. Best to you.

    Hello,

Try using Surgical Spirit on a cotton bud, or soapy water and a non scratch kitchen pad.

    Best wishes.

  • Mix olive oil and vinegar 1:2 in a bowl. Dip a clean cloth in the solution and dab it on the leather.

Hi Ree, hee's what I found on the web.

Mix one tablespoon of liquid hand dishwashing detergent with two cups of cool water. Using a clean white cloth, sponge the stain with the detergent solution. Blot until the liquid is absorbed.Dec 18, 2017

I always use vehicle leather cleaning kit but I believe the hunker article posted by Redcatcec is a good one to get the specific issue taken care of.

When I bought my leather furniture, I was given a kit that contained a cleaner and a protectant. Guardsman is the name of the kit, Am sure you can buy these kits but the cleaner works very good on hair spray (with a little elbow grease and patience)

There are cleaning and conditioning kits for leather furniture....most furniture stores or hardware stores sell them.

And after you get it off make some little slip covers for the headrest part of you chair/sofa, and you never have to worry!

Hi Ree. I read these instructions on the Lazy Boy web page: Pour corn starch on the hair spray stain. Use enough corn starch to completely cover the stain. Let it set overnight. The next morning brush the corn starch off and throw it away. Doing this will help to remove any oils below the surface of the leather. Then mix a mild leather or saddle soap with warm water in a bucket. Follow the directions on the package for mixing instructions. Then wet a clean cloth in the solution. Squeeze the cloth to remove as much excess moisture as possible. Then wash the surface to remove any remaining stain. Blot, don't rub. Allow enough time to air dry. Good luck Ree. Happy New Year.

    Rubbing alcohol can remove hairspray.

If you use rubbing alcohol, use it sparingly. Use a 70% or greater.

  • try a little shampoo with warm water. Use a rag to wipe down.

I would use an automotive cleaner and conditioning kit.

I followed one of the above links given by Unexpected Elegance and used the solution of one part olive oil to three parts of while vinegar. I rubbed gently with a white washcloth, covering the area underneath where I was working with a hand towel to catch the greasy bits as they came showering off. It took about five minutes of rubbing, applying more solution, and continuing to rub before I began to see a difference and realized that it WAS coming off. The recliner back has virtually all of the thick greasy residue removed, and after it dries- probably tomorrow, I'll use a bit of Pledge to help restore the shine. (The Pledge can indicates it can be used on leather.)
