It depends on what they are. Often a fence is your best defense against animals. Also vinegar-soaked rags.
Here's a post I wrote that might help https://chascrazycreations.com/keep-pests-out-of-your-garden/
A fence can work well. Depends on what you’re trying to keep out. Rabbits? What critter do you have?
Personally I like raised beds, they keep out a lot of animals, if your garden is ground level, chicken wire fence is very effective.
Hello Jenny,
Dig in under your fence or Hedge and bury fine mesh that they cant climb through (at least 1 ft.)
Hello. Fencing and netting might be considered as options. It is very challenging living with nature.
Additionally...Deer probLems was one of my my exam questions.

you can fence in the area using wire that is smaller holes so they can't get through it - are you talking about squirrels, rabbits or what? squirrels & chipmunks can climb or crawl under fencing so sometimes using red pepper flakes around the garden is a good source- I buy it at the dollar store and you have to reapply if you have rain, snow, etc but it helps me
Squirrels have an extraordinary ability to get into small areas when they are searching for food. Squirrels can also scramble up high, and jump great distances. Don't be too disappointed if the red pepper flakes do not keep them away from your garden.
Hello. This link is interesting. It would seem like you would have protection from all directions. It has 80% recommendation from reviews.
I tend to study reviews and Q&A’s before making a purchase personally.
Additionally you could design your own to meet your own gardens dimensions. Zip tying the plastic or metal mesh fencing might be options.
If squirrels are your particular problem this plastic fencing might not be an option. Metal fencing could be required.
Living with hungry wildlife is definitely makes gardening or birdfeeding quite challenging.

Depending what you have, you can add plants or scents to deter them. The best way is to add a fence.
Hi Jenny, how about these, there has to be something in here that works, hope it helps

No idea what kind of bug, insects or animals you have. It would be helpful if you let us know what you have problems with. Deer eating the plants? Rabbits? Insects destroying the leaves? Neighbors cat or dog? Repost with more specific information so we can help.
I think it really depends on what kind of critters and what kind of garden you're protecting. If it's flowers you can plant things that your critters aren't fond of...there are several. Veggies are harder to deter!
