You see its a work in progress. Walls are rust and green and pennies. What color would compliment the copper?
Have you decided on what material you would like your backsplash made out of - tiles, laminate, metal, etc?
Keep in mind that there is usually a fair amount of labour involved with installing a backsplash. While it might be tempting to go with a trendy style or present popular design or color, it will be neither easy or inexpensive to change it out, should you tire of it, or regret your decision.
It is easier and less expensive to change the color of accessories in the room.
For these reasons, I would recommend a neutral color backsplash.
Hi Rejeanne, Have you tried browsing a site like Pinterest? You can search for dark granite and look through some photos. If you see one that really catches your eye you can then try and find a similar product to what used.
Light backsplash may help the room feel brighter. You could of course do the classic white subway tile - it goes with virtually anything. Or pick a light color from the granite and go with something like that.
what I did when we installed new granite countertops is take a small sample I got from the installer and took it with me to look at backsplash options- you can use plain colors, textured or even the new ones with designs. Go to a tile store and look at all they have on display for best results
I like to balance light with dark. So I'd go darker. Most tile stores hire designers who are very happy to consult with you.
I would go with a contrasting color like grays or white. I recently got new dark counter tops and went with a stone back splash with a mix of grays. You can see one picture of it over here: https://happydealhappyday.com/how-to-paint-kitchen-cabinets-without-sanding/
I'd pick a color in the dark granite that is a lighter shade and match it to the backsplash.
Can you post a pic here? Then we can help you find something that will work perfect
I would do a light backsplash to pop against the dark
I would look at Pinterest or at Google photos for some inspiration to see what looks you like. Then I would investigate whatever your eye is drawn to.
Hi! My best advice is samples! I have marble counters and white subway tile. My counters look fabulous! So do you want contrast or continuity? You will be surprised when you see your granite next to different colors. Stone always has beautiful colors in it, and you may love how one makes them glow!
I always paint the backsplash the same colour as the kitchen walls. I find that too many patterns - floor, countertop, backsplash can look busy. Cheaper to paint as well and you can change the colour.
