Hi Anne, could you use an old bread bowl? They are long and very shallow so you could arrange your bark pieces in the bowl and then it would be easy to move on and off of the table as well.
Hello Anne, have you considered using monkey pod wood trays? Various designs and sizes of them can be located at resale or thrift stores. They are usually quite inexpensive and could make ld make a nice looking base for your designs.
you can buy or cut round center pieces of wood in that you could mount them on or buy old baskets, old bowls, etc at yard sales or even thrift stores

Hello. Depending on your bark piece sizes- I would consider using a wood tote or wooden trashcan to showcase the texture.
I'd use a large platter plate, maybe spray paint it in a metallic color to contrast against the bark or in a basic white or black color.
