How do I transform my front door?
My front door is not real wood, I have painted it a couple of times. The paint doesn’t stick to it. It has a lot of scratches on it and looks horrible. What can I use when painting my front door to make the paint stick?

The key is in the prep work. It needs to be cleaned well and may need to be 'scuffed' with some sandpaper to help the paint adhere. Use a good primer and let it dry before painting it the color of your choice.

Hi! What is it made of?
Hi Linda, you can repaint, but be sure to put a guard in the area where the heavy scratches appear, likely from keys in hand when opening door, you can use a 3M film to do this, or a brass, brushed nickel or other finish type of plate. Here is a sample of a film you can put on after painting to prevent dings in the paint,

Deb gave you a great solution. You should be able to strip the door and then using a very good primer before painting to get a good coat of paint to adhere.
A tip if you wish to paint your door. Expandable, paintable caulk and Modern Masters Front Door paint. I purchased a new solid wood door, unfinished knowing I wanted to paint it black. I tried an oil based paint, yet with the expansion and contraction of the wood it was cracking. So I re-primed and painted with latex, thinking touch ups would be easier. Still had problems with paint retaining a good finish and cracking with expansion of the wood. I had seen good reviews for Modern Masters. I thought I would give it a try. With the use of the flexible caulk and Modern Masters I finally have a good lasting finish. I was surprised a little plastic container of paint could do the job. Learn from my mistakes

If you have a metal door stay away from latex paint. Perhaps you could ask a person at a paint store in your area for some advice/recommendation?
Hello. When our wood grained fiberglass weathered door much like this we used a gel stain to refurbish it. It could be an option to consider besides paint.
I have a metal door, and when we painted the house we used Sherwin Williams exterior paint. It has held up to all the elements and looks brand new 5 years later. If it is a metal door you can also use Rustoleum spray paint, although it did not hold up as good as exterior latex paint. It is worth the money to get a good paint. Benjamin Moore has a terrific exterior paint as well.
Yes, how successful a project is often depends on the quality of the materials used. Both SW and BM are higher end paints.
After looking at your pictures ( thank you for them) I am left wondering what is causing all the dinging up, it is basically in the area below where the key is, so it must be coming from the hands and probably keys dangling where the latch is.
It needs a good sanding down and a strong primer to keep the paint adhered to the door. Either that or put a plastic protector over the dinged up area.
Or, consider changing out your system of keys, too many on 1 chain.
I have a metal door, I use exterior enamel paint. Never have a issue. Painted it several times. Always getting comments on my door.
Your issue is probably caused by two things: wear & tear and the wrong type of paint. Remove the locks and sand it completely. Make sure to purchase a bonding primer for plastic (I think that's the material you door is made of) and then a door paint that is for the same. My best advice is to get your paint from a free standing paint store like Sherwin Williams. As for the wear & tear, you could add a plate around your locks.
You’ll need to sand it all down or strip the paint off first as continued painting over a bad surface won’t fix it. Paint on a good primer (use one for metal if it’s a metal door), then paint. Use the appropriate paint for the type of door (metal for metal aka oil based).
Perhaps your door is PVC, since you say it's plastic. If so, maybe this will help: https://www.everest.co.uk/doors/upvc/can-you-paint-upvc-doors-and-windows/
