White Exterior Paint (Gloss) for South facing Timber Office?
I would like to know what others have done! I have a South Facing Timber Garden Office that only one year after painting the paint is peeling, What would you suggest?

Hi there! South facing buildings are especially VERY hard on paints. I would rent a sand blaster (or at least a power washer) to get as much off as possible and start over. Oil based outdoor paints and primers would be the place to start in finding the best lasting solution. However, south facing is going to be tough on any kind of paint. Would it be possible to do more of a white wash stain on what you're painting?
Hi there, this might give you some information that helps. https://www.thisoldhouse.com/painting/21017905/all-about-exterior-paint
Our house has a full southern exposure and painting the front door has been tough. We've tried a lot of things and while we have thought about using an oil based paint, they're difficult to work with so we've avoided it. There are some really great acrylic paints that do hold up out there. I would consult a pro at a local shop...not the big box stores.
What kind of paint did you use originally? I would blame that on the quality of the paint and if it was rated for exterior use. I'd talk to a paint specialist at Lowe's or Home Depot and see if you can upgrade what you used and add another coat.
You may have to scrape off all the peeling paint before starting again

It may be a good idea to buy a premium paint, the best you can buy. You could only use that for the south side, then use a lower level (still good) for the rest.
Many paint brands have different levels of quality. South facing is hard on paint!
Hi! Is there any way you can cut down on the direct sun baking it? Like shade of some type?
Maybe try an alkyd paint after cleaning off the peeling parts.
Scrape off the paint and use a wood stain on it.
