How to rid my IL garden of voles for good?
Sadly these critters have taken up lodging under my shed. I shudder to think how many are camping out. The last straw was when they ate my clematis that was growing up the trellis. Usually this plant is my curb appeal show stopper. HELP!

The best way I have found is to trap them.
Here are some suggestions, mainly remove the food source and make life unpleasant for them:

The voles/moles are likely eating insects- grubs in your soil.
I would love to find a solution too! I’ve tried to Tomcat trap and the Sweeney worms and they both didn’t work for my troubles. Some have suggested to get a cat - or- eliminate the grubs in the soil.
In master gardener classes the expert lecturer commented there are four possible solutions, get a cat, get rid of the grubs, get a trap or live with them.
Sorry to say I can say I've have not found my answer to eradicate these pests.
Heres a few links with some information and suggestions.
Good luck in your search for a solution!

i went to Earl May Garden Shop and got some poison grain made especially to kill voles. You drop some in the tunnels they make and they eat it and vole-no-more. There is also a vibrating wand that you stick in their run and it vibrates periodically (run by batteries). The voles do not like the vibration and leave. We had voles for about three years in our back yard and with both of these methods got rid of them. They were killing our plants by eating the roots. Voles are just pointy nosed little mice! Ugh!

Hi,
Employ a Pest Control Operative!
This is the time of year to deal with them as they are having their babies now. Traps, poison, a good cat.... Out dog used to take care of ours...
Thanks!
