How do I upgrade full length mirror on bathroom door?
I have an oval full length mirror on my bathroom door. I like it there, but it is brass and I am into brushed nickel and modern decor. Any ideas from you brilliant artistic people? I can't wait to see what you think! I need your input, please.

Take it down, remove it from the frame or tape it off and spray paint it with brushed nickel paint.
Hello yes it’s a fabulous project. I have transformed gold to nickel or pewters using a spray paint layered with rubnbuff.
I’ve used a combination approach of spray paint and Rub n buff on picture frames and brass candlesticks.
It’s a waxy rub on that worked well for my needs. It can lighten or darken or add depth as a metallic luster.
Have a look at the website possible color options, reviews Q&A to to see if it’s a product you might wish to consider.
Here is a golden thrift store frame I transformed with spray paint rubnbuff and acrylic washes below.

Can you take the mirror out of the frame? If so you have an easy update. Take it out and spray the frame with nickel look spray paint. Done. :). If you can’t take the mirror out you can tape it off and get the overspray off the mirror with a blade.
If you can remove the mirror it would make it easier to paint the frame. Tape off the mirror with blue painters tape and newspaper or any paper. Cover the whole mirro and not the frame. Lightly scuff the frame with a green kitchen scrubby or fine sandpaper. Use Rustoleum 2X spray paint to paint the frame. They have many metallic colors to choose from.
Hi there, paint is definitely an option but you could also consider using mod podge! That would open you up to all sorts of fun patterns and things. https://www.hometalk.com/diy/bedroom/furniture/use-mod-podge-to-transform-your-most-boring-piece-of-furniture-36204772
You can use napkins or any kind of paper etc.

Hi Jan, good advice so far from Hometalkers! You might consider painting the frame a bright funky color to add some pizazz to your bathroom. SO MANY colors of spray paint from which to choose. :)
You can paint the frame. I've done it many times on metal. RustOleum has a great line of metallic paints. You can purchase in a brush on form. I got mine at Lowe's, last purchase was 2 years ago.
Painters tape and new paint. Since it is oval you might consider gluing on a string of dollar store beads all around and paint them the same brushed silver. Dip in paint before or glue to the outer edge of the mirror frame and paint when you spray the frame. It will make a completely different look.
You could backlight it with leds.

you could use washi tape it comes in solid and all kind of decorative colors you can find it at craft stores, walmart, etc or order online it can be changed out if you get tired of the colors you put up
The easiest way to get it to a brushed nickel appearance is a can of spray paint, otherwise I've seen a slew of mirror tutorials here on Hometalk. Give the search bar at the top left a whirl for loads of inspiration.
Yep, mask it off, wipe down with acetone to clean it and spray paint it.
You might see if acetone actually removes the gold paint first.
Hi, If you don't fancy the above idea, Sell it and buy one that is right for you!
First cover the mirror with newspaper. Or use the grocery store adds. Then tape the edges down with painters tape, Take the mirror outside and spray paint it with Rustoleum Brushed nickel.
Spray paint with the color you like
You might be able to use coloured, Gaffer type tape - as used on Bikes etc. too!
