Faux Fur Vintage Chair Makeover Tutorial
I absolutely love it when a refashionista project comes out even better than planned!
I’d been coveting a fancy fluffy chair for ages and finally found the perfect ingredients:
It’s a snap to (re)create your ideal furniture – grab my faux fur vintage chair makeover below and get upcycling home furnishings that are just your taste and style!
I found this lonely vintage chair on garbage day on the side of the road and just knew I could give it a groovy makeover!
Then I discovered the perfect faux fur fabric in the form of a $1 thrift shop jacket!
Quirky furry kisses close-up!
I chopped out the back of the jacket fabric and then put the rest away for a few future cozy projects.
I removed the seat from the chair and made sure I had enough fabric to recover it.
Unfortunately the original padding on the seat was too damaged and moldy to salvage, fortunately I had a couple of old fleece blankets + a thick towel to upcycle into a new seat pad.
I folded the blankets and towel then layered them together and placed the chair seat on top.
Using the seat as a guide, I chopped out the basic shape for the chair pad + a few extra centimeters to overlap and cover the edges and corners of the wood.
Then I layered all of the fabric together and secured it to the seat with a staple gun.
Once the fancy new seat was complete I simply reattached it to the chair frame that I had painted in a funky metallic colour!
A gorgeous new-to-me chair!
With a fluffy, comfy seat!
2021 Update – I decided to paint the chair frame black to match the faux fur:

That is funking awesome! And obviously you don't have a blonde cat like I do that would think the chair was made just for him.
Brilliant work.

Very nice! When you ready for another update you can paint it hot pink and give it more life!
