Don't Be so Blue
I purchased this art deco buffet from my local Facebook marketplace with the hopes of taking off the blue paint and giving it a makeover. I have worked on many similar pieces before, so I was familiar with what I may find under the paint.
First thing I did was start sanding with my orbital sander. Sandpaper grit 120,180,220.
Started with the drawers. I I suspected there was tiger oak veneer underneath the blue paint. Luckily they didn't use a primer or clear coat, so the blue finish came off easily with my sander.
The top drawer had a
wood detailing I didn't like so I want ahead and removed it. These are usually just glued on so I could find my way underneath the panel with a flat screwdriver and it came off in one piece.
Here we go! Everything was sanded so I started painting and applying peel and stick wallpaper on the inside as well as on the inside of the drawers.
As usual I added a little bit of razzle dazzle and pixie dust and created and art deco design on the doors with frogtape, gold paint and different color stains. Once the paint and stains were dry I applied a polycrilyc clear coat for durability and it was picture time.

There is no way that anyone could ever guess how this gem looked before you transformed it. You have a special skill to be able to have seen that it was a diamond in the rough.
