I would use real dirt or potting soil it is cheaper than cinnamon and some folks may be allergic to that spice -

Hi Winnie, if you are looking to simulate soil in paintings or pictures, just put down some glue on the project, nd sprinkle the cinnamon on the glue, once it dries you can shake it off the rest of the pictures or project
At least the cinnamon will keep the pests away and your crafts will smell amazing.
Hello. I have seen folks use dollar store instant coffee as dirt on craft items even combining it with white glue.
Typically cinnamon is used to make a aged patina surface such as rust it really has that rusty crusty look adds depth and dimension.

I'd use a spray glue and this sprinkle it on our use a sifter to sprinkle it on more evenly.
I would just put glue where you want the "dirt" and sprinkle the cinnamon on top. Let it dry and shake off any cinnamon that didn't stick.
Hi! When I use cinnamon to age anything (it's used a lot in prim doll making), I generally sprinkle the cinnamon either on a damp surface (such as paint or water) or glue. Spray on glue works really well if you want a lot to stick. Then, after the surface dries, gently brush any excess off. If you want more, repeat the process. I've always liked the cinnamon method because it smells good and has that reddish tinge that makes me think of clay. Try it, and have fun!
