that frame goes perfect with that picture...I wouldn't change a thing
You could try a little Rub n Buff to brighten it.
I would leave it alone, but take away the items in front of it and add in a simple runner, right now the area is too busy.
You could remove the frame frome the picture and spray paint the frame in one of the light colors contained within the artwork. Maybe white or yellow.
just buy anew frame in a color you like better but actually that frames goes well with the art work
I like the Rub and Buff idea. You can also dry brush it with paint.
I agree with the above posters. I’ve used Rub n buff on picture frames and pewter candlesticks. It’s a waxy rub on that worked well for my needs. It can lighten or darken.
Have a look at the website possible color options, reviews Q&A to to see if it’s a product you might wish to consider.

Another vote here for Rub and Buff.
Paint it
Paint it silver.
I love the frame, but if you really want to update it, you can use chalk paint, Spray paint, or Rub and Buff. Make the inside part of the frame a contrasting color so that it looks like a matt. Beautiful picture.
You could use chalk paint on it, that would look nice. Here's a link that shows you how to do it

Hi,
Stain it with Gel Stain or Paint it or use Gold, Silver, Pewter or Bronze Paint.
You could simply paint, stain, or spray paint it
You could easily paint the frame the lighter shade.
The color of the frame picks up some of the colors in the picture which would make me hesitate to paint it. I think I would agree to clean and brighten up the gold.
Be brave, go with red.
I would paint it. Hold shiny gold
Hi Christine, you can white wash the frame or spray paint it a lighter color. Either way, it's best to remove that gorgeous picture first.
Use vinyl stick self adhesive shelf liner in light wood pattern. It works to refresh the frame and you can remove when you want a new look.and no harm to the frame !
Are you wanting to paint it or stain it another color? What type of decor do you have? Transitional, Boho, Farmhouse, what? That should determine what you do with it. Look for ideas on Pinterest.com or You tube. Just type in, for ex., "farmhouse frames".
