Hi! Despite the advertising that says no prep, you really need to prep first. At minimum I clean the piece and seal the old finish with a product like Kilz. It also needs to be sealed with wax or polyurethane to protect the finish. Have fun!
Here is a beginners guide to chalk paint and furniture: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gh9m8yDLV0Y&t=17s
Witch ever paint you use the better you prep the furniture the better it wil look lightly sand off all varnish all the shiny.then take a damp cloth and wipe the furniture down get all dust off of it then you are ready to paint
Unless you are painting something with a glossy finish all you need to do is clean the surface of grease. Rinse well and 2 coats usually does it. You can add finishing wax or antiquing was VERY sparingly or just leave plain.

Chalk Painted Furniture - 4 Videos on how..
I have tried it a few times but if you want a long lasting paint that won't scratch easily, steer away from chalk paint. It is great for distressed look or if you plan to repaint in a couple of years.
And your question is????? Yes, you may chalk paint furniture if that is what you're asking.

I agree with the comments above, a little prep goes a long way, even though people say none is required and I would wax to finish.
I agree with Kim about finishing the chalk painted item with wax. It adds a nice smooth, soft finished look to your work and helps to protect the piece
You certainly can but it might depend on what the furniture is, maybe what the finish is on it now, how it's used, and what your goal is.
