Wasps and sweat bees everywhere!

The best time to spray a wasp nest is around dusk when they are not as active and yes, you can spray in the hole. My husband does it with wasp spray that shoots several feet. Peppermint spray is a good way to keep sweat bees away. They are pollinators, so it's best not to kill them.

Spray the hole with either wasp spray or WD40, do this at dawn or dusk when the activity is down. The spray will kill them and so will the WD40-that coats their wings and prevents them from flying. Have a place ready to run to so you can protect yourself if need be.

The sweat bees are pollinators and you can lure them away from your entrance by planting flowers as far away as possible from where your porch is.

Definitely spray the hole around dusk. If you can see the nest thru the hole make sure you get that too. After you kill the wasps, caulk the hole to seal it up.

My parents swear that if you put up a gray plastic or brown paper bag, fill it with other bags so that it looks like a hornet's nest, that it will keep them away.

As for getting rid of them, I would go to Lowe's and get the professional spray from Spectracide. It's in a black & white spray can. Shoot them on site.

Sweat bees are not aggressive and are important pollinators. They are indeed attracted to sweat and salty skin. You could wash up prior to going on the porch. Bees also have a distaste for lavender oil, citronella oil, olive oil, vegetable oil, lemon, and lime. These are all topical defenses you can add to your skin to keep bees away. You can also set out dishes of white vinegar in the area while you're out.

In order to sweat bees you may insecticides containing prallethrin. But you can also mixing one part dish soap to four parts water. Spray all bees with this solution.

Yes I spray nests with Wasp & Hornet spray when its cool, just before dark. Then get inside ASAP just in case. Aim the spray into the hole.
