Kitchen ideas?
I have a limited budget and i would like to update my kitchen cabinets and countertop. I currently have tiled counter and I think its plywood cabinet. I painted them gray last year but I now want white cabinets. I love the shaker cabinet look with soft close drawers. Home Depot has some affordable hampton bay cabinets but they don't seem durable based on the reviews I've seen. I thought about just adding some plywood shaker doors and getting new drawers.
Please help me with ideas to spruce up my kitchen.

New doors is a great idea and will give you a ton of bang for your buck. If replacing the countertop is currently out of budget you could consider replacing the backsplash by taking off those tiles. Peal and stick backsplashes are really impressive nowadays and really inexpensive!
I actually really like your gray color! Gray can be tough though if its paired with warm tones at all it can start looking a little grab over time. White is always a nice bright and clean choice. Another inexpensive thing that can really help is replacing the light fixtures or, just even replacing your bulbs with brighter, whiter light bulbs!
Good luck!
There are places that just replace the doors for an update and keep the cabinet. Add a shelf across the top of the cabinets using the cabinets for support and put in a beautiful curtain using the bottom of the shelf to hang the curtain. It needs some color.
Maybe paint the walls to add some color, white cabinets would be nice, and a change in a backsplash. The changing of the doors could give you the shaker effect you like. Or you could add color by changing out the blinds to a pretty shade.
You can very easily just add flat trim stock to these panels to get the shaker look and save yourself oodles of cash. Try the search bar at the top left as I've seen several folks here do that. If you like the concrete counter look, you can use skim coat concrete over the tiles to update.
You want the doors and face frames at least to be made of solid wood. If it's in your budget you might consider making the cabinets go all the way up to the ceiling.
I personally like flat cabinet fronts. They are so much easier to clean. You can dress them up with some new hardware or if you want to save money clean and repaint the hardware you have but bulkier hardware would add interest. Sort of like putting eye makeup on it just makes them pop more.
I would ditch the mini blinds. They are usually dusty and really date the area.
Perhaps up dating the faucet also. Some thing bigger with a pull out sprayer.
Lowes has a plastic or vinyl product that would give you a new backsplash by sticking them over your current one.
What do you have for lighting?
Throw rugs would bring color into the area.

You can go to Habitat for Humanity and pick up some doors. Take your measurements. If you do not have a Habitat, try Ikea for door fronts. Certain times of the year Ikea has a fabulous sale on cabinets. I would take those tiles out and go to Home Depot and get a nice Wilsonart Laminate countertop. Some actually look like granite or Quartz. Also redo the back splash. There are peel and stick which are really nice. I think the kitchen needs to be painted a brighter color or even a white. Replace your blinds with new 4 inch slats . Have fun looking for these items. Oh Lowes also sells the premade countertops
You can add molding to the cabinet door to make them shaker style. You can purchase soft close drawer adapters to make you drawers soft close. No need to replace anything. Then just paint the cabinets.

If your cabinets are wood, I would get some molding for the doors to create a 'shaker look' and repaint them.
Having the white cabinets is a great idea. You can also repaint the wall to make it look better. And yes, totally agree with Ann by getting some mold for the doors in creating the shaker look.
Hi,
Paint white after adding shaker trims.
I would not suggest spending time and energy going to a Habitat stores to purchase 'new' doors for your cabinets.
Supply varies considerably between individual stores and it is always hit or miss whether the any particular location will have what you are seeking. The likelihood of finding the right number of doors in the correct size, in white, in a shaker style is most likely going to be a miss.
Mogie asked what type of lighting do you presently have in the kitchen. From the yellowish tone in the picture, I suspect that you may have older incandescent fixtures, or are still using incandescent bulbs.
To instantly brighten up any room, switch to LED bulbs or an integrated LED light fixture, which will cast a cleaner and more clear type of light. I would suggest that you update your lighting before you do any painting in the room.
The type of lighting you have can change the perceived paint color on the walls and cabinets.
Here are some pictures showing this effect:
Those cabinets are nice just ge5 fancy hand
es and re paint like black or smoke blue
I just noticed that there appears to be an abundance of silicone putty around the base of your faucet. This is not right. Is it leaking? If so, then the reason why should be found and the problem fixed. Otherwise, you are risking inviting water damage to the underside of your countertops or your lower cabinets. If the estrucheon plate does not fit adequately, then it should be replaced with one that does fit properly.
I love the ideas you shared!
