I need any ideas for an economical awning to fit over my front door.
My front door is somewhat in a corner. The roof line of my house meets right above the door. When it rains the water just pours down on the walk in front of door. Anyone waiting at the door get drenched. I am looking for any ideas of some type of awning to help divert the water. Something that we do ourselves.

Have you considered gutters? They would move the water away from the house entirely.
This is where a picture would have been helpful, my first thought was where are your gutters and downspouts placed in relation to the front door and roof?

Thank you so much for the great ideas. We live in the southern US and have too many pecan trees. The gutters and downspouts that were on this home when we bought it have long gone. They were replaced once and then we just took them down and never replaced them again. They didn't really help at front door even when they were up. I still believe that an awning where a visitor could stand during a heavy rain is needed for protection. What ever we put up will also have to probably make it thru hurricanes. Wish us luck. Thanks again

We found a corrugated plastic sheet at Home Depot to use on a small porch area and just cut it and hung it up - it was less than $25 https://www.homedepot.com/b/Building-Materials-Glass-Plastic-Sheets-Corrugated-Plastic-Sheets/N-5yc1vZcbtu

Hello, here are a few ideas for you to check out,

Also have you thought about putting up an eavetrough?
Gosh I feel that pain! Did you try the search bar at the top left for ideas? I’ve seen a few on Hometalk. You could try a Google image search for DIY awnings and I’m sure you’ll find some good ideas to work from.
Awnings are beautiful, but if you live in an area with HOA you need approval.
Hello,
Fit Rain Water Pipes and Guttering to your Roof, this should sort the problem!
You can buy those polycarbonate awnings pretty cheap and they are light enough to do a DIY install.... https://www.amazon.com/s?k=over+door+awning+for+roof+corner&ref=nb_sb_noss
or you could buy a sheet of polycarbonate pretty cheap for about $26 and get a couple corbels and some 2x2s the desired width to install a piece over the doorway. https://www.wcmanet.org/diy-door-awning/
Thanks Sharon. We have decided to try something like that. We are looking for the right corbels. We might have to have someone make us a couple. will post a picture when the project is finished. Thanks again...
