5 gallon glass water jug
I have an 5 gallon glass water jug and would love to reuse it but can't find any ideas for a jug that large.
It's a question of how broken it actually is....If it can be glued back together, you could wrap it with jute twine or coat it with spackle for a new look.
If it can be glued back together with super glue or gorilla glue you can paint it. But it probably would not hold water. I like Ann's idea of wrapping with jute or rope.
if it is fixable then glue it together then decoupage it with paper
Depending on the break, you can glue it back together and hide the break(s) with several options:
decopouge
add trailing flowers or greenery to hide
cover with a decorative netting
Ann's idea of twine or ribbon
To be safe, use only with artificial greenery & flowers - nothing that requires water.
At Christmas you could fill with ornaments.
If you posted a picture we could see the extent of the damage and if this is fixable or not.

Without knowing what your vase is made of (glass, pottery, plastic, etc.) it's difficult to provide solutions. Most items can be reglued using a good commercial glue such as E-6000 or Gorilla Glue. Another way to upcycle the vase is to make any broken area look intentional, perhaps by painting it using an additive such as spackle, baking soda, egg shells, etc. You can also wrap yarn, ribbon, rope around the item to cover a crack or a break. You could wrap in cloth, decoupage with cloth, pictures or pages from magazines. Just try to thiink out of the box and create!
Hello there,
Glue the vase together, then when completely dry use a Metallic pen on the crack lines and make a feature of them!
You could do mod podge and fabric if you want it just for decoration
Hello. Can you post a picture to see how bad the damage actually is. It might be reassembled. Other new ideas would be to cover it with grout and mosaics or a textured concrete like finish
Don't use gorilla glue on a vase. It expands and will never look right. Cover the vase with joint compound, smooth or make a pattern in it with swirls, lines, something pressed into it while still wet for a design and paint.
Hi Vee, depending on where the vase broke you can use it to make a really pretty mosaic. Here's a few examples that may inspire you - https://www.countryliving.com/diy-crafts/g2416/repurposed-broken-china/
You can use the pieces of the vase to make a mosaic on a small table top or hot plate. You will need to smash it into small 1" pieces, use a tile adhesive to attach it to a surface and then grout the pieces.
Please post a pic...
Hello. Is it a decorative vessel or do you need to hold water? Applying a textured finish might be an option to consider.
I would try repainting it, or stenciling it. You could even hot glue those colorful glass stones (with the flat backs) from the dollar store onto the vase.
