Faking a Dark Wood Tone Under Paint

Want the look of dark wood peeking out when you distress but the piece has already been painted? Maybe it's unpainted but the wood tone is light...this post will show you a quick and easy method for faking that dark tone underneath, without stripping paint or staining!
This piece came to me with a few colors dry brushed on and deep distressing around the edges. That distressing revealed a light colored wood and my client wanted a dark color to match existing pieces. So, I cleaned the piece and spray painted all areas I wanted to distress.
I used Rustoleum 2X Coverage in Espresso and applied 2 light coats.
I used a few different techniques for distressing {details on the blog} and revealed the Espresso tone.
All edges and imperfections appear to have a dark wood tone underneath.
Quick and easy!! Check out my blog for more painting tips and tutorials!

love your project.Never thought that I would love to paint furniture so much. Especially the under dark tone with White over it ,the old white plank fence is asome look on any kind of furniture...been experimenting a lot with different kinds of paints...But when I try to repeat the same white plank over dark look it never comes out the same...upppppps
