Faux Metal Letter

I found some awesome metal letters on clearance right after Christmas. I found an L,O & V, but no E in sight. I bought them anyway figuring I could buy one online, and I could for the tune of $40! After spending only $4 on the others I just couldn't do it. I figured would try to make one! I used cardboard, an xacto knife, a marker and my letter L as a template. Once I had the E created I spray painted it, first with 2 coats of metallic aluminum by rustoleum and then cardinal for the topcoat. I did have to give the metal letters a coat of the same red, they were off slightly, but it was very close. I then sanded all the metal and the cardboard letter and you would never know the difference! The E even looks like metal with the aluminum paint under the red. I am so glad this turned out! I wasn't quite sure, but thanks to the awesome rustoleum paint, it turned out perfect! You can see the full blog post at http://www.thelittlegreenbean.com/2015/01/faux-metal-letters.html
