Easter Mantle - Vintage Neutral

45 Minutes
Easy
Well, I finally got around to taking down my Vintage “Love” fantle that I used for Valentines Day. If your new here let me explain “Fantle”. I do not have a fireplace with a mantle, so I put up two shelves that I decorate as our mantle. So hence the term fantle…..faux mantle. I’ve been in the mode of using what you have for some time here, so I tried to continue with that theme.
Honestly, the use what you got theme started when G was off for 6-months last year and money was tight. If it didn’t come from Dollar Tree or with a 40% off coupon, I probably wasn’t buying it. So with a shortage of cash, comes an increase in creativity. Also, it comes with digging around your home trying to see what you can put together.
So I stripped everything down off the fantle except the window and corbel. I’m loving this corbel, and the backdrop of the window frame. So I just keep using them because they make me smile. That window frame provides some texture and a great place to hang a wreath. I pulled out my Easter decorations and went to work.
I’m pretty happy on how it all came together. Those blocks are what’s left from a set G had when he was little. I love to use them each Easter.
I bought this chicken feeder at Texas Antiques Week a year ago, I filled it with Dollar Tree shred and white plastic eggs. The mossy bunny on top is a dollar bin Target find this year. It only cost $3. Don’t forget to shop the dollar bins and stores in your town. The other side has the corbel.
This is one of my favorite parts. The scale, and the blocks left over from my husbands childhood set.

See how you can just shop your own home and find things that will work. Like I keep saying, just look at everything differently. Try it before you think it won’t work, because you may be surprised.
