Rescuing a Craigslist Card Catalog

**This is a DIY crime scene. If you are sensitive to graphic images consider yourself warned!** Finding a card catalog on Craigslist is everyones dream, but the state of the one I scored for $300 was down right frightening! But like every good love story, with a little hard work and elbow grease it turned out to be the piece of my dreams.
The previous owner stored the card catalog in an outdoor shed for approximately 25 years. They also used the pull out desks to hold things while they spray painted them. WHY!?!?
The first step was to remove all of the hardware. In order to get the spray paint off of it I soaked it in acetone and rubbed it with a soft cloth.
Then everything needed a serious sanding. The wood was really rough from being out in the elements for such a long time. 60 drawers later....
I LOVED the way that the wood looked raw, there were so many different tones!!
All of the hardware was put back on (I thought I would never use the teeny philips head bit but yay! it totally came in handy!!)
It turned out AMAZING. Come and see what it looks like in my living room now and get a few more tips!
