Antique Dresser

I recently made a day trip to Shipshewana, IN with my sister to go furniture hunting. After a major letdown at the flea market, we scored big at a local Amish store selling used furniture. Here is one of the dressers I picked up.
I was really digging the style of this piece. It's small enough that it could be used in so many different ways. Besides a basic dresser, it would make a great entryway piece or an accent piece in pretty much any room. It has a simple design, yet still packs a lot of character into a small piece.

Here is how the piece turned out.
I was really getting the vintage/country charm/shabby chic (whatever you want to call it) vibe from this dresser, so I opted for a softer color. I mixed Annie Sloan's Duck Egg with Aubusson Blue to make a really pretty medium shade of blue.
The piece also has a bit of texture on it. It looks like it had been stained multiple times, giving it some depth. I knew I wanted to not only keep this texture, but also to accentuate it.
In order to highlight all the texture of the piece, I opted to give it a heavier distressed look. This step really brought the piece to life and gave it a punch. I felt like with each stroke of sanding, the piece was telling a new story of how it became worn and weathered.
