Hi Peggy, in my opinion, wall art is all about things that make you happy. If you love the coastal vibe you can always look for free printables of shells, boats, or beach scenes online and have them framed. Here's three online resources to get you started:

If you want to save costs on framing, thrift stores are a great place to start. Happy home making

  • I would pick a color from the painting and use it for the walls. Since this is from a beach house, it sounds like that's the look you want. Wicker furniture, seashell art, and beach colors (blue, sand, white) are all things that would work in this room.

Hey Peggy, that picture is gorgeous, you can pull colors from it and add bedding and other items in coastal colors, I see a nice blue in the painting that would look lovely on the walls, or you can just do a feature wall. here is a pic of one idea. But you can get shells and other decor very cheap at dollars stores.

Walls White or pale blue. Depends where the wall is that you want to display this picture. You could go all Nautical or Relaxing with calm hints of a Sea Breeze!

This would be a great time to hit the dollar tree and pick up nautical and beach decor. I saw quite a bit of it last week and it definitely looks like it costs more. Also, Hobby Lobby will be starting to put items on clearance soon.

What a great picture. I would paint my walls a very light blue or light gray. Go to the Salvation Army or Good Will to look for a nice bedspread or if you can go to a clearence section on overstock, Macys, JC Penneys, etc and find a nice comforter set. Ihave seen some as little as $39. Of course there are always Estate Sales. What tpe of furniture do you have? Do you have end tables and lamps? Best bet is Estate sales then because you can really find bargains. Fix it up a little at a time and get something you really like.

Instead of buying beach decor make it. Not only is it cheaper but it also allows you to add some personality to the space. You don't want to look like the people next door.

pick out colors you like from the painting and then paint your walls and add pops of other colors to the decor

  • For the walls, I would choose a hue from the painting. It sounds like the appearance you want because this is from a beach house. The beach hues (blue, sand, and white), seashell art, and wicker furniture would all look good in this space.

Visit the dollar store and get some rope that you can use (Sisal) and decorate with that around vases that have beach plants. Maybe some repainted wall sconces that have a beachy feel to them. Lots of natural light, so keep the curtains breezy.

You might consider an accent wall with removable wallpaper with a woven pattern.

Oh one more thing I would paint the frame black. I had that same picture, and when I painted the frame it popped.

  • hey there, Peggy! that canvas painting looks pretty amazing and, may i add, quite breezy. that would go really well with a color palette featuring plenty of white and warm sandy neutrals, as well as a spectrum of blues. a little reconditioning of the bedroom walls would really add up to the whole e-sea-breezy atmosphere of the room.

you can also opt for bedsheets and pillowcases that matches the color of your walls or painting (nautical or star-shaped designs would be nice ;))

showcase a lot of blues: try adding ocean-themed pieces to your space and have fun playing with different shades of blue.

if you've got a little more time to spare, i have here some easy DIY crafts that would help accentuate that breezy and carefree room atmosphere that you wish to achieve:

    • if the white-and-blue bedroom walls are too bland for you, you can go bold by trying a beachy wall covering:

  • Great painting and from one beach dweller to another, I love the vibe you're going for...so I would lighten the room up with a some white or lighter wall paint. Your furniture looks lovely and contrast is nice, so I'd leave it alone. I'd probably spray the lamps a lighter color and get new shades. I've found many, brand new at thrift store, or Home Depot has inexpensive lamp shades that would coordinate. Then I would get white drapes for the window, new bedding, Amazon and Walmart have great choices for budget prices. I'd also get some more large pillows with coordinating bed shams, to fill the space between the bed and the artwork. Then you won't need a headboard. You could also add a few pieces around the painting if you like.

First thing I'd do is get/make a headboard.

  • Bring the painting to your local home improvement or paint store and check out the mis-mix section. You might be able to find a color that matches something in the painting, then paint the walls. From there, it will depend on your taste but thrift stores, the free section of Craigslist or your local Buy Nothing Facebook group could help you fill things out.

First off, I love the idea of repurposing what you already have. Giving new life to old treasures can be super rewarding! The canvas painting from your beach house could be your centerpiece. Think coastal vibes: soft blues, sandy beiges, and white. You can DIY some floating shelves or frames with driftwood for a rustic touch.

Considering you're into canvas art, you might want to check out https://www.canvasworks.ae/. Even though your post is a year old, they offer some beautiful pieces that could complement your beach theme, or they might give you inspiration for another DIY project!
