Hello Toye, I would go with a storm door, much stronger and will last longer.
Another vote for a storm door, especially if that side of the house receives lots of weather.
A screen door is basically a wooden door with a frame that could be made of an assortment of materials, it's basic purpose is to keep out pests and bugs with a good airflow.
A storm door is more complicated, it can have a glass panel to regulate the amount of airflow plus locking mechanisms.
The decision is all about climate and the purpose of your door.
Hello I feel its your up own personal aesthetic. I have had screened porch doors both ways. There’s something about the wooden doors creaky snap closure compared to the storm doors efficient seal and metallic thud closure. There are different qualities- pricing with both doors to compare too.
Lastly wooden door likely will need maintenance— like painting from time to time.
I agree, a storm door would be stronger and require less maintenance. Although, I do like the look of a wood screen door. Personally, I'd use a wood one with decorative elements on it.
What climate are you in? Is the area over the door covered?
If the door is between the porch and the house, storm door. If it's going from the porch to the yard, a wooden screen door.
Door to go from outside to inside the screened in area or door from inside of house to screened in porch. If outside to porch, screen in inside to porch storm door.
A wooden door will need to be protected from the elements with a good marine varnish or paint. A storm door should stand up better in the long run. However, I think the screen door would fit your aesthetic.
you can buy the storm doors with glass and screen or all glass or solid- that is what we have on our screen porch but the new wood screen doors have vinyl in them now so they last longer than they used to is is all a matter of preference
If its just a summer porch, I would go for the wooden door. If its used year round, I would opt for the storm door.
Without knowing the part of the country you live in I would say storm door. I like the fact they fit so much better not allowing bugs to sneak in. They also help help keep the heat in during the winter.
A big plus for me is the security factor. A screen door can be cut or even pushed thru with a hand. Most storm doors have locks on them as well as glass panels. Our storm door from Lowes has a good dead bolt on it.
Also with a wooden doors there is more up keep.
I would go with storm door as it is will last longer since it is pretty sturdy and would need les maintenance. But it is still a personal preference, it as well depends on the climate you are in and your own aesthetics.
What is outside the door? Is it steps or a landing? Do you get a lot of snow? If it is a landing level with the door, you don't want snow piled up against it. Storm doors usually have some type of weather seal on the bottom, which will also help prevent snow from melting back into the porch. No snow? As was mentioned before, there is nothing like spring loaded whack of a wooden screen door.
I think it is personal preference. I would prefer a storm door.

I would go with a storm door, it'll be sturdier.
