I recently bought 100 pool noodles and made a super-cool couch using them. Now, I have loads left over so I’m going to make a pool noodle bed frame! This pool noodle bed hack is really easy to do. Plus, it spices up my bedroom with a bright color and fancy shape.

Here’s how to make a pool noodle bed, step by step!

Tools and materials:

  • Pool noodles
  • Knife
  • Measuring tape
  • Marker
  • Wood
  • Jigsaw
  • Staple gun
  • Fabric
  • Scissors
  • L-shapes
  • Screwdriver
  • Crates

Cutting the pool noodles in half

1. Cut the pool noodles

Cut the pool noodles in half lengthways.

Cutting the wood with a jigsaw

2. Measure and cut wood

We’ll be attaching the pool noodles to pieces of wood, so measure and cut them to the size of your bed.

Tip: If you don't have a jigsaw at home, you could also ask for the sizes you want at the hardware store. They can cut the pieces for you.

Stapling the fabric to the wood

3. Attach the fabric

Next, we’re going to attach the fabric to the wood pieces and squish the pool noodles underneath. Measure the fabric, then fold the top edge and staple it to the wood pieces.

Tip: Remember to keep the “nice” side of the fabric facing outwards.

4. Add the pool noodles

Next, add the pool noodles under the fabric and staple them in place. This is a very repetitive step!

Folding and stapling the fabric over the pool noodles

Fold and staple the fabric over the ends too.

Trimming the excess fabric

Trim any excess fabric.

Repeat this process for 3 sides of the DIY bed frame. For the back of the bed, I just covered the wood with fabric, so it’s flat. There’s no point adding extra volume to the side no one is going to see anyway.

Connecting the corners with L-shapes

5. Assemble the DIY bed frame

Use L-shapes to connect the pieces together at the corners.

As you can see, I used crates as the base of my bed.

Placing the mattress on top of the bed frame

6. Add the mattress

Place your mattress on top.

Why cover the pool noodles? You coould just mix match and make all colors. Would be colorful especially for kids beds.

I use my pool noodles to make molds for gravesite wreaths, I also use for wind drafts on doors ! I went to store looking to buy some they were $19.99 for 1 door , I noticed one box was open , popped out to look at it hmmm ! I can make better than that , but what can I use , flash idea pool noodles cut in half , voila my project is done! Back to the sofa I wouldn’t have cut the noodles , possibly no material what for, it’ll look better without, if used by pool just throw some beach towels on it !
