Hello, a simple & steamy way to clean your microwave is to place a cup or bowl of water in the microwave and heat it to boiling. Let sit for a couple of minutes and then use a clean soft cloth to wipe the ceiling, sides and bottom of the microwave dry. Easy peasy! If you have bits of food stuck on from splatter, just scrape as much of that away with a plastic spatula before steaming. If you wish, you can add a Tabsp. of vinegar or lemon juice to the bowl of water before microwaving it.
Most people use a bowl or cup of vinegar, a few drops of lemon juice. Heat on high till it boils and steam forms. About three minutes. Let it sit for a while. Then just wipe away the grime.
I will second the cup of vinegar in the microwave until it boils. Make sure you have a big enough bowl though that's only about 1/4 full or it might boil over. After that just wipe out the whole microwave.
here is info on using safe products for your microwave never use cleaning products only natural items like vinegar, lemon juice etc

Bring a microwave-safe bowl of water to a boil in the microwave oven. Remove it and wipe the inside clean.
I add about 1/4 cup of vinegar to a bowl with a wooden toothpick in it. The tooth pick breaks the surface tension so the water doesn't boil over.
Hi! I just put a glass measuring cup full of water in the microwave on high for five minutes. Let it sit for awhile before wiping it out with a microfiber cloth. If you have a slice of lemon or a little lemon juice, it smells good, too!

I fill my Pyrex measuring cup (4 cups) and set it in the microwave. Then set timer for 4 minutes and let it go.
It releases even the most stuck on stuff. I wipe it down with a hot wet rag, it works great
