This homemade pin cushion is so fun to make and so cute that you will have a hard time making only one. They make a lovely DIY gift. Just pick a pretty scrap of fabric and get a little mason jar and you are ready to create this pretty and useful homemade mason jar pin cushion. Then you can fill the jar with sewing goodies and it is all done. I hope you enjoy this diy mason jar craft as much as I do!
Gather your supplies and make sure your hot glue gun will be able to get plugged in near your work space.
Remove the lid portion of your mason jar and lay it on the fabric so that the top is facing the back side of the fabric. Cut around the lid leaving ½” of extra fabric all the way around.
Apply an even line of hot glue on the underside of the lid 1” at a time, gathering and folding fabric over and pressing into glue. Continue until you have a 2” opening then stuff with cotton batting until desired puffiness is reached. Then continue hot gluing fabric until it is completely sealed. This creates the homemade pin cushion.
Then fill your mason jar with sewing kit goodies. You can use a small square of felt cloth to hold the sewing needles. Slip covered lid through ring and place on jar. Screw shut. Your homemade pin cushion sewing kit is all set.
Now you can tie a pretty bow around the jar and your homemade pin cushion sewing kit will be ready to gift!
