My Sewing Thread Dilemma

by Nancy Davis
So much thread and no way of knowing exactly what I had. Then I came up with the idea of using those white plastic trays at Walmart that come 3 for a dollar. Screwed to the wall sideways, with the bottom one tilted up slightly using an empty toilet paper toll behind it, it was the perfect solution.
Then just start stacking the trays on top of one another and and put two 1/2 inch screws in the top corners and you have a great solution. I also added a strip of magnetic tape to the front of a few of them to hold the bobbins that go with that color scheme.
Such a simple solution and it freed up so much shelf space in my sewing room. No more digging around for the perfect color of thread for my project.
Good thing I have a little room to expand. I still need to add a few larger plastic dividers for my serger thread as you can see I have it stacked on top for the time being.

I don't understand about the toilet paper roll. Is it just used to space the baskets or do you leave it on the wall? I can't see any toilet paper rolls in the pictures. I like this idea and need to do something to organize my thread better...but I want to be able to see the thread instead of digging in a drawer or box.

    Thanks
