Upstyled Painted Plate Chargers

Painted Plate Chargers are great way to dress up your table for the holidays! Plus you can make them fit your style and compliment your decor!!

I just recently painted my dining room table and walls to have a black/white/gray neutral color palette. (It was golds and browns and needed an update!) And now I wanted a B&W tablescape that matched my room AND my recently painted fancy farmhouse pumpkins (over on my blog in case you missed it)

Let me show you how I painted these black and white striped chargers ...

I purchased chargers at Hobby Lobby for $1 each!!!

Using my Heirloom Traditions Chalk Paint in Irish Cream I painted two coats and let dry for about 30 minutes.

Using my Frog Painters Tape, I taped off sections evenly around the rim of the charger.

I then sealed the edges of my tape with the same Irish Cream so the black paint would not seep through underneath and make my stripes less than perfect!

Once dry (about 30 minutes) I then filled the spaces between my tape with two coats of Black Bean, also by Heirloom Traditions. Immediately after the second coat I removed each strip of tape.

Once the Black Bean was dry....I sprayed the plate with a clear satin spray ... my full blog post has the product I used. (And additional photos of these steps!)

And there you go!!! Time to set that table!!!

Remember…these are “chargers”…not plates to eat from. They are meant as a decorative setting to hold your dinner plate! I would NOT wash these in the dishwasher or even soak in water. I would simply wipe down with a damp cloth after each use!
