DIY Spell Jar Decorations From Recycled Jars

It seems like I spend a lot of time creating adorable, cute and darling craft projects. This one is a little different because it includes snakes and spiders. These DIY Spell Jar decorations came out so spooky and awesome thanks to DecoArt’s Matte Metallics. These paints are over the top when it comes to creating a metallic surface. I whipped up three jars and cannot wait to share the details with you so you can create your own for some Halloween decorating fun. To create these DIY Spell Jar Decoration, you will need the following supplies and materials.

What you will need to make this project:

• Glass Jars with Cork Lids
• Plastic Snakes, Spiders or Critters
• Drip-less Hot Glue
• DecoArt Multi-Surface Paint
• DecoArt Matte Metallics
• Printable Words (FREE DOWNLOAD HERE)
• DecoArt Decou-Page

How to make DIY Spell Jar Decorations:

Start by using hot glue to add your plastic critters to the jars. Add one to each cork lid too.

Paint a coat of Multi-Purpose on each jar and lid, covering the critters. It might be messy going over the plastic spiders and such but keep in mind that this is just a base coat and your overall completed look is intended to be a little spell like and disturbed. This is not a step to seek perfection.

When the paint is still wet, add a coat of Matte Metallics to each jar. Coordinating colors is optional. It is fun to mix them a little and have some of each color show up on each jar. Paint the lids too.

Once the paint is dry, add touches of layering and colors with the Matte Metallics by brushing or sponging on a bit more in places. Leave a little space somewhere on the jar to put the words that tell about the ingredients. Cut the words from the FREE downloadable printable apart and use Decou-Page to adhere them to each jar.

Mix a little tiny bit of paint in while the Decou-Page is still wet to get the weathered and used look.

When the jars are all dry, they create amazing DIY Spell Jar Decorations that would be perfect to decorate for Halloween or a Harry Potter Party decorative table too.
