Easter is the only time my decor gets a real pop of color. I saw these plastic eggs in dollar general for $1 and they’re perfect for garland because they already have the holes in the top for threading onto a string! If you already have yarn then this is a super easy $1 project.

To start

Choose a yarn color for the main line and thread on your first egg. I cut my line about 6ft long, leaving me with some extra to tie off each end into loops for hanging.

Making the pom poms

Next, you’ll need to make the pom poms. I had 12 eggs meaning I needed to fill 11 spaces. I did 3 per space so made 11 cream ones, 11 tan ones and 11 colored ones (2 of each color + an odd one).

Since these pom poms are so small the easiest thing to use is a fork. If you want larger poms use your fingers.

When tying off the poms make sure to leave a long tail as that’s how we attach the lower poms to the one above it. The poms that are threaded straight onto the main line don’t need a tail.

Assembly

To assemble, thread on your line pom pom and then attach the pom pom that will sit underneath it by using a yarn needle to push the tail up through the first pom, then loop it back pushing needle through the top to the bottom.

Secure it

To secure the pom, tie it to itself with a double knot and snip the excess tail off.

Finish assembling

It can be as long or short as you like, think about where you want to display it and how many eggs you’ll need to buy to get that length.
