Good morning friends, I hope that you are having a wonderful week. I am keeping my fingers crossed for snow this week. We were supposed to get snow on Thursday but now they are forecasting some for Saturday, it will be the first snowfall in a couple of years so I am very excited.

I’ve been a busy bee making treats this week to send to my grandkids, to give to my neighbor kids and to some friends as well. The best part about this Valentine’s Day treat is that there is no baking involved, which is a plus if you are pressed for time, looking for an easy and cute favor to give to friends and family and if you just don’t have an affinity for baking. They are also a wonderful project to make with your kids and grandkids because it is easy and you can make it a lesson in counting, tying and of course because there is candy . Another plus is that almost everything can be purchased at the Dollar Tree, the only thing I did not get at the Dollar Tree is the cone shaped cellophane bags, they are from Amazon.

All you need are red, white, and pink doilies, ice cream sugar cones, candy, cellophane bags, candy and ribbon or twine. You can fill your Valentine’s cones with candy, cookies, meringues, popcorn, and caramel corn.

Supplies

Red, White, Pink Heart Shaped Doilies(from the Dollar Tree)

Sugar Cones (from the Dollar Tree)

Cellophane  Coned Shaped Bags

Heart Ribbon(from the Dollar Tree)

Candy of your choice

To Assemble

Take one sugar cone and wrap it with a doily, you can tape the edge if necessary. Then place the cones into the cellophane bag, fill the cones with the candy, Hershey Kisses are a favorite or M&M’s, which are my favorite, popcorn or treats of your choice then tie the top with twine or ribbon.

Note: You can also make your own cone shape with paper if you do not want to purchase sugar cones, a coordinating craft paper would look great wrapped in the heart doily and then placed into the cellophane bags.

I filled my cones with all sorts of candy, M & M’s which my brother-in-law loves, Starburst hearts for the grand-kids, cinnamon lips for my mom, cherry hearts for me! I am also making some almond dragees and some of my favorite brownies and these bars.

If you wanted to add a few homemade treats to your cones, I small sugar cookies or even truffles would be perfect in these cones, after all there is nothing better for Valentine’s day than a homemade gift.

If you are making these cones with your kids or grandkids you could add homemade Valentine’s Day tags with their artwork and cards as well. I am sure the recipients would love those special additions as much as the cones.

Valentine’s Day, like every other holiday and event will look a little different this year but I think it is important to let our loved ones know they are special and that we are thinking of them at these difficult times. Are you making any treats for Valentine’s day, is so please share your recipes!

Have a wonderful day friends.
