How do I decorate for a vintage school themed wedding in June!
I am a teacher who has access to a one room school for our wedding . Loads of ideas all over Pinterest but wondered if anyone has done this on here? Books, antique desk centerpiece, chalk , globes are all perfect!

Since it's a 1-room schoolhouse, I'm thinking of a horse-drawn wagon to bring you to the wedding/reception. Place cards could be small individual chalkboards. Your centerpieces could be made from flowers that students may bring to the teacher - depending on the season: lilacs, sunflowers, etc. along with apples/apple blossoms. They could be in mason jars placed on a stack of vintage books. Find a brass school bell for someone to ring after the ceremony to celebrate.
I saw a reception where they used glass lamps like they have at Cracker Barrel.
So many good ideas have already been shared. One idea that came to mind was to decide on the type of food for the reception and then perhaps "package" it in individual lunch boxes or buckets as a take away from the wedding for the guests. Wedding signs could be made out of small chalkboards.

Blackboard with Chaulk - Rulers etc. No I haven't done it, but sounds a lot of fun! Are the guest Parents or Children. I think I would state either a year/decade for Dress code.
Be sure to ring the school bell ! (whether it be the bellfry style, or hand-held) when the couple is married.
Alternately, the wedding party, each member with a hand-held bell, forms an honour guard that the newly married couple walks through as they exit the building.
Oh yes! Bells! Got them ! Keep
all the ideas coming . I am trying to keep them all in one place! Thank you! Two people at age 60 going to have a unique and heartfelt wedding !!!
get individual chalkboards as the program for everyone with their own chalk pencil. That can serve as a favor as well!
I bet your dresses will be beautiful!! :)
There is a 1920's schoolhouse down the road from us that was used for small neighborhood gatherings and events. If i remember the decorations were kept to a minimum so not to take the beauty away from the old schoolhouse
Kathy,
60 is not too young to wear a lacy dress! 👗
(I'm sure Phyllis Crane would most certainly agree.)
Banner cut from old damaged books that are no longer wanted with perhaps lettering like CONGRATULATIONS in large letters attached. Old books stacked on tables with arrangements of flowers on top. A chalk board easel for people to write on.
Hi Kathy, congrats on the upcoming nuptials. If you have access to two tall bookshelves, you can use them to create an arch. Place a trellis or piece of wood across the top of the bookshelves and decorate with classroom items - books, drawings, coloring pencils in your wedding colors, etc.

Use all kinds of things around a class room to decorate like clear globes with flowers of world and put flowers in them centerpiece draw states on globes put in middle of tables ,use yard sticks with flowers for isle to mark it.bouquet of white pencils as decore, fold loose leave paper into fans and decorate with them add white flowers to them
I personally haven't done this but you might check with some of your local theaters as they might have prop storage and be able to rent these types of items to you.
