How to build an outside covering for cat food dishes?

I would like to know of any ideas to make something to cover cat food dishes outside.

To protect them from the weather or close the containers? One option would be a clear Rubbermaid container with an opening at one end.
You could build something like a mini-car port. Bend a piece of metal in an "A" shape or make it slanted to one side. Then add a support on the 4 corners, tying them together at the bottom with a wooden rectangle for stability.
