Easy Tissue Paper Flowers for Kids and Adults

Bring color indoors for any occasion with these easy tissue paper flowers for kids and adults. Here’s how to make them!
Who else is ready for spring? It’s -10 degrees here in Iowa and I’m SO ready for winter to be over. While we still have a couple months to go until the real thing, I’m ready to bring all things spring indoors for some color and cheer. Let’s bring on the sun, the flowers, and bright colors and forget the dark and dreary outside.
If you’re feeling spring in your step as well, you’ll love our next project that we’re sharing here on Two Kids and a Coupon These easy paper flowers are the perfect quick project for both kids and grown ups alike. They are perfect for adding some color indoors, giving as a gift, celebrating a special occasion or making just because. With just a couple of supplies you can make this kid-friendly craft in about 5 minutes. Here’s how to make them with your family.
How to make tissue paper flowers:
For this project you will need 5 sheets of colored tissue paper and a couple of green pipe cleaners. If you don’t have these at home in your craft bucket, you can find them at the dollar store or in the craft aisle at major retailers. You’ll also need a ruler and scissors. The tissue paper used her is 20” by 20” and will make two 10” flowers. However, different sizes of paper work as well, just cut them accordingly.
After you gather all the supplies, carefully layer five sheets of tissue paper together in one stack. Using a fan style fold, fold it, back and forth, in approximately 1” widths. Use the ruler to measure the first fold.
Once the entire length of the tissue paper has been fan folded, measure the middle, and cut the strip in half.
For the next step on your tissue paper flowers, you can leave the two strips as is, or you can cut the ends into a rounded half circle. This will create more texture for the flowers.
Tightly twist a green pipe cleaner around the center of the fan folded tissue paper.
Extend the layers by pulling them out, creating a fan shape with the folded tissue paper.
Gently separate each layer of tissue paper, starting with the top layer.
Don’t worry about a few tears here and there, as they can be hidden within the layers. Repeat with second side.
Fluff the layers of separated tissue paper to shape the flower. Place them in a jar, vase or use the pipe cleaners to hang them around the house to decorate. They can also be turned into festive garland when you tie them together using the pipe cleaners or string.
These easy paper flowers are the perfect decoration for any special occasion, event, or party. Layer different colors together for a festive touch and make multi-colored flowers for even more fun.
