I was the lucky receipent of a free container of Tuscan Orange Fusion Mineral Paint. But what to do. Nothing orange in my home. Thoughts immediately go to Halloween.

We want to help you DIY, so some of the materials in this post are linked to sellers. Just so you know, Hometalk may collect a small share of sales from the links on this page.
I started with a round piece of blank wood.  I also happen to have Fusion Mineral paint in Ash and had recently learned about using their Fresco Powder.  I mixed the Ash and the powder and used a small palette knife to spread onto the wood, creating a lumpy texture (like a stucco wall)
After the Ash layer was dry (I left it overnight). I dry brushed the Tuscan Orange over the top.  Starting to look like Halloween.
To make it more "Fall" I used a bright yellow acrylic paint (cut with a little white from my acrylic stash) and stenciled a Mandala.  The 10" stencil fit perfectly.
I made 2 at the same time, might as well make a gift while I am at it.  But now what.  I had these 2 circles that looked kind of cool.  Do I pretend they are plates and add them to a plate rack for Fall?
Then I thought: Pedestal!  I used a clay  pot and glued it on the back of the circle (I had painted the back of the wood plain Ash)  I also glued a ribbon around the edge to help it look more "finished". (I used thick craft glue and let it sit overnight as well)
Now it's looking like something for FALL!  I sprayed the piece with polyurethane to protect it a bit.  The poly gave the clay pot a white haze but I liked it because it looked more aged that way.
And now it is a centerpiece.  I made sure not to cover too much of my pattern.
