Hi everyone, This year I worked with my grandkids to help them make a gift for their parents that would also decorate their home. They had so much fun and it went so fast, that I really didn't get pictures of them actually making it. I just got one at the end showing their finished present. To fix that issue, I made another one so you can see what we did. :)
Our supplies all came from the Dollar Tree
There are 2 grandkids so the items are to make 2
2 Dollar Tree pillar faux candles with sparkles
3 Dollar Tree stalks of small poinsettias - 2 red & 1 gold
2 Dollar Tree Sparkling Silver Reindeer
1 package of Dollar Tree black plastic snack plates
On Hand
Glue gun plus glue
wire cutters
Exacto cutter
We started by cutting the flowers off most of their stem then glued them around the base of the candle.
Here's one that's finished with the flowers. Notice the blank area in the front of the candle. It's almost ready to be glued to the black plastic plate.
Before you can glue the candle to the plate, you have to cut a hole in the black plastic plate, so that you can turn your candle on & off. I did it by pressing the bottom of the candle on the plate to "mark" it, then cutting a rectangle with an Exacto knife. You do want to put the candle near the back of the plate to leave some room in front.
Next, glue the candle near the back of the plate, being sure to line up the on & off switch with the hole. The last part is to glue the reindeer in the front of the candle, where we left some extra room.
Here is the finished project with our 2 youngest grandkids showing off their work. Wishing all of you who celebrate the birth of Jesus a very Merry Christmas!

Linda Sikut on Jan 02, 2018Thank you, Karen. The one with the curly hair is actually my grandson! LOL And he won't let Mama cut his hair.

Karen Durante on Jan 02, 2018Oh my gosh, Linda, I apologize! Well he is especially beautiful. I have a blond teenager that has the hockey hair flow (he is on 'injured reserved' right now after collarbone surgery). After 8 years of Catholic school short hair, he won't let this Mama take him for a haircut either. ;-) Happy New Year and enjoy your grandchildren!!
