Transform an Old Pallet Into a Christmas Tree
3 Materials
I was delighted when my husband brought home this old pallet for me - a great flat surface all prepared. This flat surface was a great start for a sparkly Christmas tree to adorn our porch.
I started by preparing, sanding down - it's always good to reduce the chance of splinters. If you are not so fortunate re your pallet you could add planks of wood from a second pallet to make the continuous surface. A tin of white chalk paint in the shed covered the bare wood making a great base. I then resanded to reveal some of the grain of the original wood.
I used a newspaper to create a template for a Christmas tree. With some temporary craft adhesive this makes a great mask.
A further hunt in the shed produced a tin of green spray paint. I suggest holding the spray can over the template so you are spraying away from the join of template to wood (rather than into the join). Once this dried I removed the template, added nails to hang decorations. Visit my blog here to see how I made the rustic decorations.
I love how the lights twinkle in an evening welcoming people to our home.
