How do I preserve a label on a wine bottle?
My husband and I splurged on some wine a few years back and I was hoping to turn the bottles into flower vases. I would like to keep the wine label on the bottles… What is a good way to coat these so that they don’t wear off overtime or get funky looking from putting water in them?

I would use a clear spray sealer. Krylon and Rustoleum both make them.
You could also Modge Podge them.
Years back I wanted to keep the labels from wine bottles (so pretty and creative) and make a backsplash from them, at the time I though it was a good idea but had no idea on how to do this. Best to you on your project.
Spraying them with a clear sealer will keep them looking great. Apply 2-3 coats with some drying time between as directed by the instructions on the can. Several good brands are readily available from any store that sells spray paint. You can select from several finishes such as matte, glossy, and very glossy. You have a great idea to preserve a memory!

I'd spray paint on a few clear coats of sealer
Clear spray paint or sealer. Three light coats should do it.
Yay, thank you everyone! I’ll probably find a couple cheap bottles to practice on first. Looks like I’m drinking wine this week. LOL
Remember Modge Podge is not water proof. If you apply a clear sealer over the wine label/bottle you will be able to wipe it with a damp cloth no problem.
I would use a clear sealer, such as Krylon. You can get this at a hobby store. Mod Podge would also work, but will leave more of a cloudy/film over it.
This sealer will work perfect for your labels, you can get it on Amazon

ModPodge would be my best idea.
You can paint over a clear varnish or modpodge
Hi Sarah, you can use spray-on varnish or mod podge to preserve the label. Tape off the area around the label with some masking tape and then paint or spray it on. Once dry remove the masking tape.
I would use Mod Podge - the dishwasher or the outdoor formula would work best.
I’d use a spray sealer. Make sure to check the sheen level — I’d personally pick matte if the label doesn’t have any shine to it. Painters tape around the label to keep the spray just on the label itself.
Mod Podge or white glue will work but I wouldn't put either in water. You could try clear Polycrylic on an old one. It is clear polyurethane. I bet that would work well.
You can refer to this, it may help you out https://www.decanter.com/learn/how-to/storage-how-to/protecting-wine-labels-ask-decanter-332864-332864/#:~:text=Wrapping%20perfectly%20clean%20and%20dry,a%20well%2Dventilated%20area%20instead.
If the labels are stuck flat on the bottles without any rippling or buckling, then book tape would also work to preserve them. Book tape is thicker and stronger than standard clear packing tape and is water resistant. Scotch is a high quality brand that looks like laminating.
Brush waterproof mod podge on them.
Paint them over with Modpodge to seal them or use sticky backed Plastic.
Could try clear nail polish. Try first on another wine bottle as a test..
Hi Sarah, I would put a coat of clear acrylic on the label, see link for brand
